For more than 16 years, Amber has been providing strategic communications planning and execution for a wide range of clients and organizations, focusing on launching and building communications programs for groups working in the children, youth and education arenas.
Amber was a Vice President at Tricom Associates for six years prior to opening her own firm, Taylored Communications, in 2011. She is now focused on providing social media, website development and media relations services for clients.
Amber was the communications director at the Forum for Youth Investment, managing overall strategic communications for the then-five-year-old nonprofit research and advocacy organization. She was also the director of outreach and media relations for Child Trends, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center where she managed outreach to the media, Congress, the administration and state and local policymakers. She served as a liaison for service providers and research, advocacy and professional organizations interested in Child Trends’ research. During her four years with Child Trends, Amber established the organization as a national source for the media and policymakers looking for unbiased data and trends on American children. Working closely with researchers, Amber helped translate social science research for media, policymakers and the public, and trained researchers to do the same.
Amber also served as an account supervisor at The Rogers Group in Los Angeles, providing day-to-day media relations counsel, as well as long-term messaging and media and event planning, for the California Children and Families Commission (First 5 California) and their 58 county commissions.
Amber has an M.A. in political management from The George Washington University, and a B.A in political science and a certificate in political communications from Ohio University.
