From 140 to 280: How Twitter is Changing What Made It Great

Last week, Twitter announced an update that has shocked the social media world. Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted that the social media giant would now allow users to double their character count in posts from 140 to 280 characters. This decision was met with both backlash and praise, with some excited to have the ability to express thoughts more completely and others upset that the change will ruin the creativity that goes into forming each 140-character tweet.

I agree with the ladder. Twitter’s brevity is what makes the site different than all of the other platforms. Anyone can type long, convoluted messages discussing any matter of topics. But with Twitter, these posts must be carefully trimmed so only the important content is left.
